About Peter Gambino, PhD
I have a general psychological practice in the Malverne area of Long Island, New York. I am a licensed psychologist, certified Adlerian Depth Psychotherapist, and certified group psychotherapist.
For over 30 years I have worked in the fields of the human services, education, and clinical practice gaining a broad knowledge of the human experience. My hope is that this broad experience helps prepare me for the many concerns that clients present to me in my office.
Living in Queens, NY, I attended Queensborough Community College and completed my BA in Psychology from York College of CUNY, received my MS in Psychology from St. John’s University, and my PHD in Psychology from Hofstra University.
Clients are doing something courageous by seeking therapy and committing their valuable resources toward their goals. I believe this commitment deserves to be honored with my own courage to provide the most effective treatments I can.
I am, therefore, dedicated to my own personal and professional growth.I continue to receive training and consultation from Dr. Henry Stein of the Alfred Adler institute of Northwestern Washington. In addition, I am receiving training, consultation, and personal therapy in the growing area of Internal Family Systems Therapy.
I also maintain my certification in group psychotherapy through continuing education. I am also mindful of new developments in the field such as attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, relational psychoanalysis, and acceptance and commitment (behavior) therapy.
I hold memberships in the American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association, and American Group Psychotherapy Association. I am also listed in the National Register of Health Care Providers in Psychology.
